Halva året bodde familjen Cherry i … Moki Cherry was typical of her age, but also a trailblazer. In the ‘70s, when many artists challenged the authorities, Moki Cherry based her artistic practice not on pointing out faults, but on promoting the values that were actually worth protecting and fighting for.

For this latter project, the family was accompanied on stage by a puppet troupe and members of the public in a landscape adorned by Moki Cherry’s hand-made tapestries. The Blank Forms label offers the opportunity to learn more about this singular family by publishing a book dedicated to their family life as well as to their artistic practices. The exhibition Moment – Moki Cherry highlights the 1970s, but includes works made from 1967 to 2007. With a mixture of original works, documentation, music and stage photos, the ambition is to inscribe the objects in an itinerant narrative on the journey between life, art, pop, jazz, politics and Gesamtkunstwerk. Moki and Don Cherry Alongside the two albums, Blank Forms is also publishing a 496-page book focusing on the Cherrys’ life and artistic practices.
